Two-tone Afghan Choobi carpet. These pieces, also known as Zeigler, are woven by Afghan refugees in Pakistan Peshawar area. They have been very much in demand since 2000. They are woven using handspun wool and natural dyes. Their production soared due to the sanctions imposed on importing Iranian rugs to the USA starting in the 1980s. They were woven as a replacement.
