Kalat is a town on the northern border of Iran in the Khorassan province. The pieces from this area are invariable, very finely woven, and works of art. This large tobreh not only is very finely woven but has very high-quality wool and dyes. The design is very well executed, and there is excellent work at both ends. Apart from an old repair, which I think is part of the charm of this bag, all the locks are intact. The condition makes it a good collector’s piece.
