Choobi meaning wood is a type of Afghan rug that started production in the late 1990s to replace the US’s embargoed Persian rugs. They were better known as Zeigler, as they copied some elements of the Persian Zeigler carpets. In early 2000 they started producing modern designs in this weave. This checked modern Choobi rug is very decorative and is woven from good quality wool and dyes. There is a minimal area of repiling that cannot be seen.
