Stunning Persian kilim. The inspiration for this piece comes from Shomal Jijims from North of Iran. Very high-quality handspun wool and natural dyes have been used to achieve such deep colours and sheen. Kilim and jijim weaving is a small production compared to carpets. Hence there are a lot fewer weavers and even fewer master weavers. While there are copies of this type of kilim, there are very few of such high quality. This piece is very finely woven, which is essential to achieve the fine lines and the interaction of colours. It is like looking at a canvas with a beautiful modern painting. This type of work is made in narrow strips, and then the strips are stitched together to achieve the required size and design.
