This charming vintage Baluch carpet from Northeast Iran is a beautiful example of tribal weaving with both visual appeal and cultural significance. At the heart of the design lie nine framed panels, each showcasing a bold lozenge motif, flanked by sets of eight stylised boteh patterns in every corner. These boteh clusters repeat across the field, enhancing the rhythm and tribal narrative of the piece.
The soft red frames stand out gracefully against the deep grey-blue background, creating striking contrast and depth. Unique details like the wave-like motifs in each corner offer a whimsical touch rarely seen in Baluch rugs.
What makes this piece especially distinctive is its construction: woven entirely on wool warps and wefts, lending it a supple handle and a soft, luxurious texture. The natural sheen of the wool, paired with high-quality dyes, gives the rug a gentle radiance that matures beautifully with age.
There is a small area of moth damage, clearly shown in the photos. We offer an optional expert repair for a special price of £60—simply click the option to include this service.

I have no hesitation in recommending Sharifi & Co. He is an expert on carpets and kilims and clearly loves and appreciates them. His company washed, repaired and moth proofed my beautiful Uzbek kilim within a very short time. Thank you very much Sharifi & Co.

It was a great pleasure doing business with Mr. Sharafi, he knows and loves rugs and that is reflected in the excellent work he has done restoring and repairing mine. They’re looking lovely (and I promise I’ll take good care of them!) Thank you.

Looking for someone who specialises in cleaning persian rugs is like walking a minefield. Thank goodness I found Sharafi. I knew I was on the right track when I heard the National Trust gets their antique rugs done there. Ok no more drinking red wine on valuable heirloom…
