Heinegoon is a town in the Bakhtiyari region, west of Iran. A lot of their production is of medium quality. However, this is an exceptional piece from that town with high-quality wool and natural dyes throughout. It is not just the quality, but the design is quite rare. The royal blue ground has five medallions, with large flower heads at either side and a scattering of small charming motifs throughout. The terracotta spandrels lift the piece and are beautifully drawn with paisley motifs. A highly unusual border with a cream background makes this piece very collectible. This piece would work equally well as a hallway rug in a large house or a living room rug. There is some repiling that has been expertly done and does not show, otherwise in very condition with an even low pile.
