Impressive antique Heriz carpet from Northwest of Iran. Striking medallion on a terracotta ground field and aqua blue spandrels surrounded with a blue geometric border. The small areas of light green, pink and olive colour give this piece a very special colour balance that makes it very decorative. Heriz in larger sizes are less common than the smaller ones and very sought after, hence they attract a premium. There are areas of repiling that have been done expertly.
