Description

Charming antique Qashqai Gahvareh Cradle from the tribes of South Iran. These pieces are rare to find, especially in such good condition. Gahvareh means cradle in Persian. The baby is put in the centre, and the two sides are attached to poles. The baby can be rocked with no chance of it being thrown off. The decoration is colourful, and the pompons on the three sides are pretty and would suggest that this piece was woven as a dowery by the bride. It is all woollen. They are woven in two separate pieces and sewn together.
