Charming antique Qashqai rug from the tribes of South Iran. One of the reasons that antique Qashqai rugs are so sought after is the way the wonderful natural dyes used in dying the wools mature. Note the changing hues of the terracotta colour in the field. This gives so much character to this rug. The design is enhanced with the scarab motif medallion and spandrels. Notice the brown guard border with boteh design, which blends in beautifully with the rest of the rug. There is overall wear in this rug, but there is still a low pile present. There is a small loss from both ends, which is reflected in the price.
