A rare antique Qashqai rug from the tribes of South Iran. The design of the bouquet is called “Gol Farang” in Farsi, which means foreign flower. The design originates from France and is used in some carpets in Iran. However, it is rarely seen in the Qashqai weave. The dark blue background projects the design beautifully, and the narrow mustard border with the paisley and flower head design brings the whole thing together. The use of handspun wool and natural dyes has given rise to a depth of colour and great sheen. Some small areas of repiling have been done expertly; otherwise, it is in good condition—a good collector’s piece.
