This antique Zanjan rug was hand-knotted in northwest Iran around 1920. Rugs from this region are known for strong village designs and durable wool, made entirely from the weaver’s memory rather than a drawn plan.
The rug features four bold medallions set on a deep blue field. Floral side panels in soft grey add balance, while a cream geometric border frames the design and gives structure. Natural colour variation in the wool shows its age and authenticity.
