This authentic Qashqai rug features one of the tribe’s most iconic and symbolic motifs—the Persepolis pillar with horse heads, a design deeply rooted in Persian history and tribal storytelling. Woven with the traditional Torki weave, this piece exemplifies the technical skill and cultural depth of Qashqai artisans.
At the centre lies a bold Hashtgol medallion, meaning “eight flowers,” formed by eight stylised paisleys arranged in a circular flower-like pattern. The Hashtgol is a symbol of balance, beauty, and continuity, and it serves as a powerful focal point that anchors the design.
The Persepolis-style pillars, with distinctive horse heads at each end, are inspired by the grand architectural columns of the ancient Achaemenid palace, adding both historical gravitas and visual impact. These motifs honour a proud heritage, connecting nomadic weaving traditions with classical Persian civilisation.
With its refined structure, rich cultural symbolism, and hand-knotted quality, this rug is as much a piece of art as it is a functional textile. It would make a meaningful statement in any study, living area, or collector’s display.

I have no hesitation in recommending Sharifi & Co. He is an expert on carpets and kilims and clearly loves and appreciates them. His company washed, repaired and moth proofed my beautiful Uzbek kilim within a very short time. Thank you very much Sharifi & Co.

It was a great pleasure doing business with Mr. Sharafi, he knows and loves rugs and that is reflected in the excellent work he has done restoring and repairing mine. They’re looking lovely (and I promise I’ll take good care of them!) Thank you.

Looking for someone who specialises in cleaning persian rugs is like walking a minefield. Thank goodness I found Sharafi. I knew I was on the right track when I heard the National Trust gets their antique rugs done there. Ok no more drinking red wine on valuable heirloom…
