Exquisite antique Bakhshaysh carpet from Northwest of Iran. Bakhshaysh production over the years has been much lower compared to other parts of Heriz area. Apart from their interesting design they are invariably in good unusual sizes. Maybe the reason for their scarcity is that they mainly wove to order for certain unusual size requests. This ground colour is very rare, especially from this area. The simple yet effective all over design of flower heads in interconnecting lozenges flanked with four leaves works, very well here. The field design is continued in the form of stylised flower heads, connected with leaves on a mellow yellow border framed with very pretty light blue guard borders. The overall effect is decorative and tasteful.
