Antique Senneh Carpet 348x274cm
Only 1 in stock
This rare antique Senneh carpet is far more than a floor covering; it is a profound piece of textile art. Senneh weavings are legendary for their technical mastery, utilizing a uniquely tight knotting technique that creates a flat, crisp, and incredibly defined pattern. This full-sized carpet commands immediate respect, offering a sophisticated aesthetic that will effortlessly elevate any space to another level.
Precision Iconography and High-Contrast Framing
The layout of this piece showcases the absolute best of classical Persian symmetry and color interplay:
-
The Midnight Field: The ground is a rich, dark blue indigo, serving as a deep canvas for a meticulously woven Herati or Mahi (fish) design. This repeating botanical motif creates a subtle, undulating texture across the field.
-
The Vibrant Anchor: Breaking up the dense alignment of the field is a lovely red medallion. This central medallion provides a bold punch of warm color, acting as a radiant heart for the entire composition.
-
The Framed Borders: The dark blue theme returns in a very impressive dark blue border. In a brilliant stroke of design contrast, this main frame is enhanced by two cream guard borders flanking it. These bright ivory lines act like a custom matboard around a fine painting, projecting the deep indigos and reds of the carpet beautifully.
The Low Pile Character
The carpet features an even low pile, a highly desirable physical trait that gives the piece its distinct antique character. Senneh rugs were originally woven with a very low, sheared profile to highlight the incredible complexity of the knotting. Over the decades, this profile has mellowed into an even, velvety patina that lies perfectly flat on the floor, accentuating the crispness of the lines and testifying to its genuine age and historical soul.
