Impressive antique Zanjan rug from Northwest of Iran. This rug has a very well balanced design, especially for a village piece that is woven from memory. A row of four medallions are woven onto a dark blue field and Stoney grey sides decorated with charming flower heads. The big bold geometric cream border sets the whole things off beautifully. There is a slightly darker shade in two areas of the border as shown in the images.
