This fine antique Karaja rug from Northeast Iran is a striking example of village weaving, known for its bold design and lasting charm. The field is dyed in a lovely shade of red, beautifully offset by three distinct geometric medallions that reflect the traditional Karaja aesthetic.

A royal blue border, adorned with classic angular floral motifs, frames the piece elegantly, providing a vivid contrast that brings the composition together.

The rug features an even low pile, typical of antique pieces with age and use. There are areas of subtle tinting, along with a couple of well-executed repairs and some minor loss to both ends, all of which are reflected in the price and contribute to its authentic vintage appeal.

This piece offers great decorative versatility and would look equally impressive in a hallway, study, or living space, adding both warmth and historic character.

I have no hesitation in recommending Sharifi & Co. He is an expert on carpets and kilims and clearly loves and appreciates them. His company washed, repaired and moth proofed my beautiful Uzbek kilim within a very short time. Thank you very much Sharifi & Co.

It was a great pleasure doing business with Mr. Sharafi, he knows and loves rugs and that is reflected in the excellent work he has done restoring and repairing mine. They’re looking lovely (and I promise I’ll take good care of them!) Thank you.

Looking for someone who specialises in cleaning persian rugs is like walking a minefield. Thank goodness I found Sharafi. I knew I was on the right track when I heard the National Trust gets their antique rugs done there. Ok no more drinking red wine on valuable heirloom…
