This rare vintage Qashqai Rakhtekhab (or Mafrash) bag is an extraordinary example of tribal weaving and practical craftsmanship. Traditionally used by nomadic tribes to store and transport bedding, “Rakhtekhab” translates to “bedding bag,” and this piece reflects its heritage with beauty and functionality.

Finely sumak woven—a technique prized for its tight, tapestry-like surface—this piece features vivid depictions of partridges and a row of goats, traditional motifs symbolizing abundance, protection, and tribal life. Woven in striking shades of turquoise, red, blue, and orange, the design is both joyful and deeply rooted in Qashqai symbolism.

The edges are protected with leather, and the straps and handles are also crafted from leather, all of which remain intact and in excellent condition—a rare find given the wear these bags typically endure. This completeness enhances the bag’s collector value.
