This charming vintage Shiraz rug is a testament to the rich cultural and artistic traditions of southern Iran. Woven from soft, shiny handspun wool and dyed with traditional natural dyes, the rug is both luxurious and environmentally conscious.

At each corner, you’ll find the elegant Hashtgol medallion, composed of eight symbolic paisleys—a motif representing abundance and prosperity in Persian culture. Each Hashtgol features a stylized depiction of Ahura Mazda, the Supreme Deity of Zoroastrianism, symbolizing wisdom, light, and cosmic order. These powerful symbols are not merely decorative—they are woven with intention, carrying deep cultural resonance.

Adding to its uniqueness, the rug’s corner medallions are woven in contrasting colors, arranged in diametrically opposing pairs, creating an eye-catching and uncommon visual effect.

The field is alive with intricately woven animal motifs, which add narrative charm and bring the spirit of the natural world into the home. A geometric cream border frames the piece with balance and symmetry, while subtle end motifs tie the entire design together harmoniously.

Whether displayed in a living room, study, or hallway, this Shiraz rug is more than just a decorative piece—it’s a living artwork, embodying centuries of tradition, symbolism, and expert craftsmanship.

I have no hesitation in recommending Sharifi & Co. He is an expert on carpets and kilims and clearly loves and appreciates them. His company washed, repaired and moth proofed my beautiful Uzbek kilim within a very short time. Thank you very much Sharifi & Co.

It was a great pleasure doing business with Mr. Sharafi, he knows and loves rugs and that is reflected in the excellent work he has done restoring and repairing mine. They’re looking lovely (and I promise I’ll take good care of them!) Thank you.

Looking for someone who specialises in cleaning persian rugs is like walking a minefield. Thank goodness I found Sharafi. I knew I was on the right track when I heard the National Trust gets their antique rugs done there. Ok no more drinking red wine on valuable heirloom…
