Antique Quchan Kilim 127x68cm

This charming antique Quchan Kilim comes from the Kurdish tribes of Northeast Iran, an area renowned for its bold designs and skilled flatweave techniques. Kilims from Quchan are rarely seen, especially in such a visually striking and well-preserved form.

The decorative camel-coloured field is enhanced by vibrant red and blue horizontal bands and interlinked lozenge-shaped star motifs, creating a rhythmic and dynamic visual appeal. At either end of the kilim, small woven stars add a touch of whimsy and symbolic charm, speaking to the tribal storytelling tradition embedded in these textiles.

A standout feature is the cream border, carefully woven with a sequence of interconnected squares, each composed of four coloured blocks—an eye-catching detail that frames the entire piece beautifully.

Both side edges have been professionally rewoven, and there are a couple of older repairs, all of which are well-integrated and do not detract from the aesthetic or structural integrity.
